Pleased to support the launch of the Caribbean Regional Electricity Grid Interconnection and Renewable Energy Scaling Technical Assistance Project (CREGI-RES) at the Caribbean Development Bank.
This CDB-led Technical Assistance will help assess how the Caribbean can better connect renewable energy resources, electricity demand, interconnection opportunities, and investment pathways into a credible regional roadmap.
For many Caribbean countries, high dependence on imported petroleum continues to drive high electricity costs and exposure to fuel price volatility. At the same time, the region has strong renewable energy potential — including geothermal, offshore wind, solar, and hydropower.
CREGI-RES will test where regional cooperation, submarine interconnection, grid reinforcement, renewable energy scaling, and enabling regulatory frameworks can create practical value.
Importantly, this is not about predetermined projects. It is about rigorous analysis, stakeholder engagement, and building a credible pathway toward future investment decisions.
