In a small town in Chile, when a sudden blackout plunged the streets into darkness, a teenager named Martín found light in the most unexpected materials. Using a clear soda bottle, aluminum foil, and a basic solar panel kit salvaged from an old garden light, he built a makeshift solar-powered streetlamp that ended up illuminating three blocks during the outage.
The design was simple but ingenious. Martín filled the soda bottle with water and bleach to amplify and diffuse light evenly, then wrapped the base in foil to reflect and direct the brightness downward. He mounted a solar cell to the top, wired it to a small battery, and attached an LED bulb inside the bottle. During the day, the panel charged fully under the intense Chilean sun. By evening, the lamp cast a surprisingly strong and stable glow—enough for neighbors to walk safely and shopkeepers to keep their doors open.
Seeing its impact, Martín quickly built two more and placed them along the street, each on a pole made from old piping and wood. The row of glowing bottles became a beacon not just of light, but of local pride. Residents began calling them “the bottle lights,” and people from nearby towns came to see them.
His creation proved that with just scraps and creativity, even a blackout can be brightened. Martín’s invention didn’t just restore light—it sparked community, curiosity, and the kind of hope that shines far beyond its source.

اقتحم رجل الأعمال أحمد أبو هشيمة مجال صناعة مكونات الطاقة المتجددة من خلال تدشين مجمع “أتوم” الصناعي الجديد باستثمارات تبلغ 220 مليون دولار.
يستهدف المجمع إنتاج الخلايا الشمسية وألواح الطاقة الشمسية إلى جانب بطاريات تخزين الطاقة (BESS) لتلبية احتياجات المشروعات الجديدة محليًا بدلًا من استيراد بطاريات التخزين من الصين.
ويحمل المجمع اسم “أتوم” في دلالة مستمدة من العقيدة المصرية القديمة حيث يُجسّد الرب أتوم الشمس في لحظة اكتمال دورتها عند الغروب وهو ما يتوافق مع الدور الذي تقوم به بطاريات التخزين في استخدام طاقة الشمس بعد غيابها.

بدأ رجل الأعمال أحمد السويدي في توطين ثلاث صناعات هامة على رأسها إنشاء مصنع في دمياط لإنتاج الكابلات البحرية المستخدمة في أعمال الربط الكهربائي بين الدول بالإضافة إلى مصنع في السخنة لإنتاج أجهزة الري المحوري والصوب الزراعية وقواطع العشب وآلات الحصاد إلى جانب إنشاء مصنع في الفيوم لإنتاج الضفائر الكهربائية الخاصة بالسيارات وذلك ضمن خطة مجموعة السويدي المصرية لتوطين عدد من الصناعات التي تعتمد مصر على استيرادها من الخارج.

الصادرات الرقمية هي كل عائد دولاري يُحوّل إلى مصر مقابل خدمات رقمية تُقدّم من داخل البلاد مثل التعهيد ومراكز خدمة العملاء وتطوير البرمجيات والتطبيقات والاستشارات والدعم الفني إلى جانب خدمات الحوسبة السحابية واستضافة بيانات الشركات العالمية فضلًا عن عوائد اشتراكات المنصات والتطبيقات الرقمية.
خلال السنوات الأخيرة حققت مصر نموًا ملحوظًا في هذا القطاع إذ ارتفعت الصادرات الرقمية من 3.6 مليار دولار في 2019 إلى نحو 7.4 مليار دولار في 2025 على أن تصل إلى 20 مليار دولار في 2030 بما يعكس نموًا إجماليًا يقارب 456% خلال نحو عقد.
وعلى عكس الصادرات التقليدية تعتمد الصادرات الرقمية على بنية تحتية رقمية مستقرة وإنترنت فائق السرعة غير محدود وكوادر بشرية متعددة اللغات إلى جانب نظام مالي مرن وكلها تمثل تحديات أمام الحكومة المصرية لاقتناص حصة مناسبة من سوق عالمي تقدر صادراته السنوية بنحو 5 تريليونات دولار.

Researchers have developed a breakthrough "molecular jackhammer" technique that uses near-infrared light to physically smash cancer cells. By vibrating dye molecules at high speeds, the process ruptures cell membranes, achieving a 99% kill rate in lab tests without the use of drugs or chemotherapy.
This mechanical approach offers a major advantage by bypassing the drug resistance that often hinders traditional treatments. Because the near-infrared light can penetrate deep into the body without harming healthy tissue, it provides a highly targeted and non-invasive alternative to toxic therapies.
The study, conducted by teams at Rice University and the University of Texas, successfully triggered remission in animal models. Scientists are now optimizing the method for human trials, potentially opening a new frontier in the fight against cancer where light serves as the primary weapon.
