About Us: Behind Every Green Idea is an Enthusiastic Team!
Meet The Founder
Sherine Ibrahim, a power system expert and a renewable energy advocate, founded the EcoPowerHub blog in 2023. He noticed a gap in accessible, actionable resources for everyday sustainability. The absence of centralized eco-friendly guidance was frustrating. So, he built a platform that empowers individuals and businesses to embrace green living.
He began his career in 1987 at the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Department (WED). Then, he moved to TRANSCO (Abu Dhabi Power Transmission Utility) in 1999, where he managed a T&D portfolio worth US$1.2 billion (as of June 2009). A highlight of his role was the successful completion of the Emirates National Grid (ENG) project. Subsequently, this project led to the formation of the regional GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA).
Empowering A Sustainable Future
From Passion to Purpose: Our Story!
Sherine has built a distinguished career in the energy sector, driving impactful projects across regions. From 2011 to 2014, he managed T&D upgrade projects for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). He worked at GE Digital Energy in the USA. In 2015, he joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Bangladesh, overseeing a US$3.1 billion energy portfolio of the country. Afterward, he co-led the sector-wide evaluation of ADB’s 2009 energy policy and program (2009-2019). This evaluation shaped the new 2021 policy banning coal-based energy project funding in Asia and the Pacific.
In 2024, Sherine joined the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) as a Sustainable Energy Specialist. He leads initiatives promoting sustainable energy and climate resilience. Also, he champions the Caribbean Regional Electricity Grid Interconnection and Renewable Energy Scaling (CREGI-RES) Project. This is a transformative initiative under CDB’s ASERT-2030 framework. This project focuses on developing renewable energy, mainly geothermal and offshore wind resources. It is also advancing cross-regional power grid interconnection to boost renewable energy adoption across the Caribbean.
